The intent of Psychology is to challenge students to review why humans behave and think the way we do.  The course explores a range of significant units from criminology, child development, psychological problems, sleeping, memory and dreaming.  The unit’s challenge students to reflect on their own actions and lives to consider why they choose to behave in the way they do.  Students will reflect on the causes of brain dysfunction and try to make decisions whether issues are linked to natural, predetermined causes or nurturing techniques, linked to psychological problems.

The intent of the course is to allow students with an interest in Science and in particular functionality to stretch their knowledge and understanding.  As a school we know that Psychology has a strong uptake at KS5 with local colleges and we would like our students to have every opportunity to achieve and therefore see it as an appropriate course to offer, aiding this future transition.
