Key Stage 3 Design and Technology

Within Design and Technology, students will gain the experiences of various disciplines in technology where they will carry out design, make and evaluate exercises.  These elements will expose the students to elements covered in examination courses that are offered in Year 9, 10 and 11.

Below are the projects that Year 7 and 8 cover in an academic year.  Students will work on a rotational basis allowing them to experience the disciplines.

Year 7 Design and Technology

Year 10 and 11 Engineering

Students will be working through 2 selected units of exam content which is internally completed and set.  Unit 1 will be based around a design task whilst Unit 2 will be based on a making task.  Both tasks will have been covered during their time in Year 9 and it is about them perfecting the techniques on a provided product.

They will also cover theoretical content which will help equip them for their examination in the subject.
